Q: iPhoto is showing photos that I have deleted

My iPhoto is acting all weird. I have seemingly removed all the photos from my library and it clearly says that there are no photos in my library, however when I go onto faces it comes up with all sorts of faces of photos that I thought I deleted a long time ago. Whenever I drag a new photo to my library that photo will show up but not the others, how do I either recover these photos or delete them permanently. Also when I go onto settings to set my desktop screensaver. It comes up with the images that I can't view on iPhoto as images that are on iPhoto that I can set as my screensaver, what should I do?

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 10 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:

    - What version of iPhoto.

    - What version of the Operating System.

    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.

    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?

    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.

    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?

Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

    My computer is version 10.9.5

My iPhoto is version 9.5.1 (902.17)

My photos used to be synced to my phone and on the cloud, but I disabled this function about 2 weeks ago, I permanently deleted all the photos from my library, but then these images keep appearing on my faces section, but I can't actually view the photos.

I deleted iPhoto and then reinstalled it, not the newest version though as my computer is to old. I redownloaded it and dragged some photos from my desktop into iPhoto, but these photos still appeared in faces but no where else.

The only way I can actually see the photos is if I go onto system preferences > desktop and screen saver > desktop > iPhoto pictures and then these pictures appear. They are all taken in september of this year and there are about 250 of them.

I think I use iPhoto pretty normally, I can't think of anything else.

If you deleted all the photos in iPhoto then the correct thing to do is trash that iPhoto Library entirely. Next time you launch iphoto it will create a new one. Import your photos to that.

It's likely that having trashed all the photos from IPhoto as opposed to trashing the Library, that the remains of that library are corrupted.

The only way I can actually see the photos is if I go onto system preferences > desktop and screen saver > desktop > iPhoto pictures and then these pictures appear.

This is a completely separate cache from iPhoto and nothing to do with it once it has been created.

Drag the Library from the Pictures Folder to the trash on the Dock. Then empty it.

Remember any photos in that library will be trashed too.
