Q: Yosemite upgrade lags my macbook pro

After upgrading to Yosemite the day before, my Mac Book Pro (Mid 2012) have been experiencing lagging.

During the log in screen at startup, after i have entered my password there will be a loading bar that loads for a very long time. Several times which i switch on my mac, after the loading it will become a black screen with just the color wheel spinning to indicate its loading.

My wallpaper will appesr but the desktop icons and dock will take a longer time to load. If i click an application it will only start up after a very long time, and i cant do anything productive as a result.

Is there a way to fix this? I regret upgrading and i can see that a large number of users have similiar problems.

Specs:

Macbook Pro (Mid 2012)

OS X Yosemite

Intel Core i7

Processor Speed: 2.8GHz

654.93 GB free of 748.93 GB

Note: i have disabled the "display have separate spaces" option

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10)
