How do i remove the transparent blur on right and left edge on screen in final cut pro x

An external videographer has sent me a video file. The original file says that the screen size is 1980 x 1080. When I import it into FCPX it asks me to stipulate the screen sixe as the file is not recognised. I select 1980 x 1080. But when I actually start working within it within the Library>Project, I appears smaller. Then when I export it out as a 1980 x 1080 this transparent grey rectangle appears on the right and left of the exported file.

I have not added any effects to the file. Why is this blur appearing and how do I get rid of it?

What software version are you using? What are the project properties? The file doesn't seem to fit the Viewer properly, or maybe you're scaled down the viewer for some reason. The gray bars on the left and right of the QT player screen also make the image wider than 16:9. It would be nice to see the properties display in the QuickTime player inspector, not the Finder, which does not give true information on actual sizes.

I have found where the change occurs.

When I import the media the screen size looks fine... see below

But after I have grabbed the clip and inserted it into the working area, it somehow changes the screen size

It may be something I have accidentally pressed because the files I worked with from the same videographer on Friday didn't have this issue. It only started today.

We have found the issue. Although the videographer selected 1920 x 1080 when exporting the file, he selected the wrong Aspect (D1/DV NTSC (0.9091) which is different to the other files I am working with.

I have had to get the RAW files from the videographer and work with them instead. The RAW files are displaying fine.

A huge thank you to Tom, Luis and Russ for being kind enough to offer your suggestions and help.
