Q: Can't reply to the post about my not being able to reply

I had a problem with the reply button not working after I tried to reply to a solution to an earlier posted question about Final Cut 7.

I got an excellent reply from ChitlinsCC describing the problem with possible solutions, basically adding automatic reloading tabs to my browser, Safari or Firefox. Unfortunately the downloads led to deadends although I appreciated the description of the problem. I wanted to offer my reply, made within two minutes of receiving notification in my Mac Mail. Unfortunately there was no reply button when I clicked on the link to take me to the forum. However, I did log on to the forum all over again to reply to Chitlins only to discover that the reply button once again had no effect.

Is this happening to anyone else or is this just a case of my astrological good will being mucked up by that spaceship that landed on the comet. :-)

Any ideas about how to reply to a post?

And in any case, this is my attempt to thank ChitlinsCC for the help even though the solution appears to be beyond the browser add-ons that didn't seem to work. :-)

I notified CCC that you're trying to reach him. Usually you can use the reply button in the lower right corner.

    message received...

as I posted in reply to bob's alert, you "...may be experiencing something I had happen... a permanently broken thread. I had no documentation as it was broken to me and I really had no burning need to work around or start a new issue. may be that time, but I will need to give it some thought on how one might collect usable data. will cross post this in the new thread and address the 'dead links' EDITcorrected = 'deadends' - endEDIT issue he raises - not dead per se, but the SafariReloader is being slammed by Safari7/Mavericks and the author is unwilling to take time to fix it, but has posted source code for anyone interested in fixing it. I know of at least a couple folks using it and wonder if indeed it is incompatible as they claim. The FF 'ReloadEvery' seems to be alive and well."

As to the FF 'ReloadEvery' being alive and well, I did nothing but navigate to the page linked. What seems to be the issue there?

If you are interested in helping document the 'permanently broken thread' issue, let me know and I will devise a strategy for data collection. If not, no worries as it is a rare thing and is probably rooted deep in the SiteWare's script/database collaboration where we users are unable to tread.

let us know about FF ReloadEvery though. I can't imagine Mavericks being able to break a Mozilla based browser/extension combo.

    best regards

Did you try clearing your browser's cache the reloading the page.  ASC gets confused over the state of your login. I've seen half login before.  I think this is how I fixed it.

Was this the broken thread?  Seems to be working for me, at present.

    Even edit worked!

    howdy robert

wasn't ME the thread was broken for, but the OP of this one (#2 continuation)

broken = Cannot post - User ' ' is banned from posting. -- it was about asafhan (or whatever the name is)... remember, only broken for user 'CBFilms'

I do not know what efforts CBFilms made to solve the issue, BUT it has happened to me as a replier on at least two others. It is clearly associated with the user AppleID.

Another anomaly recently is 'disappearing posts' - one gets an email notice, navigates to reply, shows the post as "last post" at the top, but no post present. I have had this twice today. And yes, not being my first rodeo, I tried all clearing, restarting, etc. - still no joy. As a Guest, post is present, as ME, it is gone. The solution I found is to post any reply to any other post and voila!... missing post magically appears! I think the JiveCoders have fixed some things and inadvertently caused some new ones. As a coder from way back, it is not uncommon for that to happen.

I, like bob, have come to the conclusion that we are stuck with a system so 'seasoned to Apple's taste' that it will never work completely right. JiveSoftware provides enterprise community solution to lots of big outfits, in a much more robust way (the way it was designed) - as we are not privy to their communities, we'll never be able to compare.

    buenos noches

I was unable to view this discussion earlier today although viewing now.

    iOS 8 Wi-Fi problems

Adobe uses Jive forums in about the same way as ASC.  Similar set of problems to ASC.

I was a software developer in the day too.  I'm not kind hearted towards ASC.  There is this idea of functional testing and usability testing that is messing from ASC
