just one tab called capture and no tab for logg settings, etc
i don't know how to get a screen grab in MAC to show you....

I suggest capturing the video+audio. Then in FCE place the entire clip in a sequence, unlink the audio tracks from the video track and then export the audio track to AIFF. Once you have your audio file you can delete the video clip from your hard drive to save space.
Alternatively, connect the audio line out from your device (a VCR?) to your Mac's audio line in and record the audio in QuickTime or any audio editing app. Keep in mind that if you plan to use the audio in FCE it needs to be AIFF, 16-bit (aka 48KHz) stereo.
