Q: iPhone 6 - Family Sharing problems

My husband and I got our phones today. We were setting everything up and were excited about Family Sharing. BUT quickly realized it's buggy.

We can see each others purchases not problem. But when he tries to download a shareable app I have previously purchased, it acts like it downloads but then brings up the purchase price. And says, "This app is no longer shared with you." He tries to then actually purchase it but it won't let him. And this just continues.

We have both signed out of iCloud and the App Store. Restarted our phones (twice.) Etc.

I purchased a brand new app to see if it would work with something newly purchased. Nope. Same thing. He can see it. Tries to download it. Says, "This app is no longer shared with you." Makes him try to purchase it. Can't purchase.

ANY info on how to fix this??

Thanks!

    Hi LLLayton111,

Welcome to the Support Communities!  First of all, congratulations on the purchase of your new iPhones!  The articles below will provide more information about setting up and using the Family Sharing service.  Take a look at this information to confirm you have all of the correct settings on both iPhones.

    Family Sharing - Apple Support

You can use Family Sharing on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 8, your Mac with OS X Yosemite and iTunes 12, or your PC with iCloud for Windows 4.0. To get started, one adult in your household—the family organizer—sets up Family Sharing, invites up to five additional family members, and agrees to pay for any iTunes, iBooks, and App Store purchases they initiate while part of the family group. Once family members join, the features of Family Sharing are set up on everyone’s devices automatically.

Family Sharing requires a personal Apple ID signed in to iCloud and iTunes 12. Music, movies, TV shows, and books can be downloaded on up to 10 devices per account, five of which can be computers. iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite are required to set up or join a Family Sharing group and are recommended for full functionality. Not all content is eligible for Family Sharing. Content can be hidden by family members; hidden content is not available for download. Content downloaded from family members or acquired via redemption codes is not subject to Ask to Buy.

    Finish setting up Family Sharing

Even if your iCloud account has Family Sharing and Ask to Buy enabled, you might need to finish setting up Family Sharing or confirm your iTunes Store account.

    Share purchases screen

You can select Set Up in the "Unable to Ask Permission" message, or you can confirm your account on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac:

    • In iOS 8, go to Settings > iCloud > Family and tap your name. If you see Confirm Account under Family Purchases, tap it and follow the onscreen instructions.
    • In OS X Yosemite, go to Apple menu > System Preferences > iCloud > Manage Family and click your name. If you see a Confirm button, click it and follow the onscreen instructions.

Sharing purchased content with Family Sharing - Apple Support

Which purchased content can I share using Family Sharing - Apple Support

If you turned on Share My Purchases, you can share most content that's also available in iTunes in the Cloud. You can share Music, Movies, and TV shows from the iTunes Store. You can also share Books that you downloaded from the iBooks Store, and apps from the App Store. The availability of each content type depends on your country.

There are a few things that you can't share:

    • Songs added to iTunes Match from outside the iTunes Store
    • In-App Purchases
    • Items that are no longer available on the iTunes Store
    • Items that were hidden
    • Apps that aren't shareable

If you're on an Apple TV, you can't access shared music.

See if you can share an app

Use these steps to see if you can share an app before or after you get it.

    App Store in iOS 8

    • Go to the app's description page. Scroll down to the Information section. If you can share it, you'll see Yes next to Family Sharing.
      GarageBand info pageInformation section
    • Go to Updates > Purchased > My Purchases. If you can't share an app, you'll see Not Shareable next to its name.

I hope this information helps ...
