my friend gave me her old ipod but her home button doesn't work and also her lock button doesn't work and she forgot her passcode aso and everytime I try to restore it iTunes says it cant recognize it with out her passcode what should I do??????

Make an appointment at the genius bar of your local Apple store. You're going to have to have it repaired/replaced.
Place the iPod in recovery mode using one of these programs and then restore via iTunes:

If necessary:

Keep in mind that even if one of the programs listed above does manage to let you get it into recovery mode, if both the power and home button are physically not working, you're not going to be able to do much of anything with it.
