I have downloaded the Instagram App to my Mac but don't know how to install it and make it work.
Please help.

If you downloaded a Mac OS X application from the Mac App Store, it’ll be in the Applications folder.
If you downloaded a Mac OS X application from another source, it’ll be in the Downloads folder and may need to be installed.
If you downloaded an iOS application, it can’t be run on a computer.

I just noticed that it says that the Instagram app is for iPhone or iPad which I don't have. Is there a special one for Mac computers? You know, the actual computer that sits on a desk? hee hee

There does not Appear to be an Instagram App for Mac.
There are some third Party Apps you may like for it i.e.:

But technically on a Desktop or Laptop you can simply access the Instagram website directly.
