Adobe CS3 Compatibility with Yosemite

I own Adobe's CS3. I run it on a 27 inch 2010 Intel IMac with OS 10.6.8. I want to upgrade to Yosemite, but I need to know that Adobe CS3 will run on Yosemite. I have been unable to get a direct answer from Adobe.

Hi George,

I have CS3, but on PPC Mac running 10.5.8, personally I doubt it will, Yosemite at home breaks almost all my apps, many far more recent than CS3, but check this site, I can't get in with my old browser...

PS. whatever you do, keep a bootable copy/clone or 2 of tour 10.6.8 setup, or get an external drive to install OSwhy on.

William — Thank you for the reply to my inquiry. I dabble with Adobe CS3 when I create documents for several volunteer organizations I belong to. I'm a retired educator and had purchased CS3 with an educator discount. Would like to upgrade to Mavericks, but can't really afford to upgrade to Adobe's Cloud system. I can't pulled the trigger on an OS upgrade unless I am confident CS3 will function — if it doesn't run on Mavericks I really don't know what I will do. But, again, thanks for your feedback.

I have Yosemite and am able to use PS3 with it.

You should be prompted to install this Java for OS X 2014-001

you should see the prompt after installation of Yosemite as it bootsup

but you can download it beforehand.

So far I haven't come across any issues with PS3, but you may want to check on other forums just in case.

there is a possibility that if you have any third party plugins installed in PS3 that they may not fully function

with Yosemite, so best to contact them for advice, or updates.

Always check that your installed third party software is compatible with the latest OS before upgrading.

Good Luck

I am also running the Adobe CS3 suite & I just upgraded to Yosemite yesterday (Dec. 26, 2014) from Snow Leopard 10.6.8. So I really went for it with this upgrade, of course, taking all the necessary preparations like backups & researching potential problems.

After the upgrade I clicked to run Photoshop & was prompted for the upgrade to Java link just like Eau Rouge indicated. I downloaded it & have been able to run the CS3 programs (Dreamweaver, InDesign, Illustrator & yes even Flash) with no problems thus far.

I am really going to put Photoshop through its paces today & if any issues arise, I will repost back in this forum. But so far all is good. Hope this information helps!
