Does changing my Apple ID password automatically change my iCloud password?

Hi,

When trying to login into my Apple ID, I'm being advised that my Apple ID password needs to change and I cannot sign into my Apple ID account without completing this step, which so far I have not done as I want to understand first whether changing my Apple ID password will automatically change my iCloud password. My Apple ID is for my iCloud account / user name - I only have one Apple ID / iCloud account.

My issue is that if I do change my password to something long and complex via Key Chain or one of the Password Apps available, does that mean I then have to enter that new password across all my iOS devices, Mac Book, etc. Also, if I were to try to log into my iCloud account from iCloud.com on a different computer, that is going to be a bit of a struggle if my password is long and complex?!

Please could someone advise whether Apple ID password and iCloud password are the same? Hopefully they are not.

Many thanks,

They are the same. If the Apple ID you need to change the password for is also your iCloud ID (has the same email address), then changing the password for the ID will change your iCloud ID password and the new password would have to be used for all devices/computers sharing the iCloud account. (Just to clarify, your iCloud ID is an Apple ID; it was an Apple ID that also became an iCloud ID when you used it to create your iCloud account.)
