Q: iOS 8.1.1 bluetooth problem in Mazda persists

Do not upgrade to ios 8xxx.  It is hazardous to your health!  Wait until Apple fixes this! 

Did you try deleting the Bluetooth settings on the iPhone and on the car audio system?  I have a Corolla S 2012, and today I tried deleting the old Bluetooth settings on the iPhone 6 Plus and re-establishing it, and the songs are playing finally with the update of iOS 8.1.1

Our vw car dealer introduce us clearly to buy htc ore Samsung

now we have about 7-8 htc one & Samsung s5 Dual sim

they all have bluettoth 4.0 --- the Same like the iphone 6 & +

they all work Fine Talking & Diving safely

Outgoing calls not working as they should. Audio is only routed after the call is picked up. other phones work fine.

IOS 8.x has caused this issue.

I was able to listen to 10 minutes worth of music by blind luck on my way home today (not a long drive) but I started spotify, noticed it wasnt connected to VW PHONE (what my car identifies as) inside the app so I selected it and some how was good to go on my way home....

 

Im not holding my breath but Apple really needs to address it, I am sure in their employee lot there has to be one person who works there with an ios8 device and having issues staying connected to their car's audio. Bluetooth should not have backwards compatibility issues.

 

I hate to be dramatic, but if fix I may have found by dumb luck doesnt persist or the next update doesnt lock everything up I will either trade this for a 5s on 7.1 or look else where for an android phone. It isnt ideal because I really like everything else about the 6.

No, there's nothing for Apple to sort out.  My Bluetooth on all of my iPhones running iOS 8.1.1 or 7.1.2 or 6.1.6 all work just fine, on all of my accessories.

What is the firmware version of the Bluetooth in your Volkswagen?

No, it hasn't.  Ignore the people that are ranting without the proper technical knowledge.

Notice how one of the steps refers to checking for a firmware update in the accessory your are using?  Go through all the steps in the article. 

Check for, and if available, install the Bluetooth firmware update for your vehicle.

If your iPhone connects to ANY Bluetooth accessory, then there is NOTHING wrong with the Bluetooth on the iPhone.

Dont waist your time with apple. It is easier to change your mobile than your car. Our federal train company has just changed recently from apple to android. (About 5800 smartphones) I'm Working every day with many different Volkswagen. About 85000 km/year. No one of them connect to the new phone from apple. (but they all worked fine with the old 4;4s;5;5s)

I can't hear no more this arrogant tone from those Apple people.

the only one who was friendly is a call centre operator.

he tried 105 minutes to help us at work with our vw.

Unfortunately not successful!!

We also introduced successfuly 80 % from all our business partner NOT using new iPhones for talking & driving.

We also went to a second vw dealer and talked with an audio specialist.

For a second opinion

the result is clear.

Buy another phone

very easy!!!

It's not arrogance.  It's factual information.  The fact that you don't like the answer doesn't make it false, nor does it make it arrogant.

The reason that the older iPhones connect but the newer one does not is because the Bluetooth profile in the vehicle is not updated to be compatible with the newest version of iOS.  It is the vehicle manufacturer's responsibility to ensure that their Bluetooth profiles are compatible.  Apple provides all of technical documentation that the vehicle manufacturer needs to make this happen.  If they have failed to do so, it is their fault, not Apple's.

So far, no one here, including you, has answered the direct question:  What is the firmware version of the Bluetooth in the accessory?

I also have the exact same problem as OP.  I did not try the reset all settings, but I upgraded from a 5s to a brand new 6 and the 6 had the same exact problems right out of the box.  On the 5s I had tried deleting the pairing from my car and phone, but that did not help.

To clarify, I had no problems on iOS 7, 8 immediately had problems.  By problems I mean that incoming calls aren't defaulted to bluetooth and will only switch if manually switched AFTER the call is already connected.  Dangerous for driving.
