HOW to AVOID 10.10.1 update on restart?

The 10.10.1 update wreaked havoc on my iMac, completely destroying it's ability to get Internet connectivity by either Wi-Fi or Ethernet.

It took me several hours of high anxiety to get my computer back to a functional 10.10.

NOW, I'm getting a popup message that the 10.10.1 update is "ready to install," but, of course, a restart is needed. OMG, not again! Needless to say, I will avoid a restart as long as possible, but at this point, how can I prevent the 10.10.1 update from being installed (a second time) the next time I'm forced to restart?

iMac with Retina 5K display, OS X Yosemite (10.10), Also MBPr and late-2012 Mini
