I reboot the iPad and that seems to help it to work for awhile, but then the same problem occurs intermittently.
I will send a note to Apple, and hope others do as well. This only started to happen with the latest iOS upgrade, so probably a bug associated with that.

Dec 6, 2014 8:26 PM in response to Mickrg123by Vic Brown,I sent a detailed note to Apple, and have been contacted by one of their tech people. He gathered some data and escalated it to their engineers.
Separately, the iWork team saw these posts and reached out to me, asking for copies of my crash logs for the iPad. It was't easy, but their instructions showed me how to make copies of them, and I sent them to Apple.
Hopefully, this will help. They obviously do recognize that there is an iBooks problem.

Fingers crossed, after the update iBooks (and App store and iTunes store for that matter), all seem to be working much better. Let's hope Apple has the problem resolved. (If they do, I'll take full credit of course! )
