Q: problems with sending calendar invites

I am adding events to my calendar. I want to send them to my husband. I sent my husband an invite from the calendar to his email. He never received the email invite. i was adding them on my iPad calendar. Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

iPad Air, iOS 8.1
