Just done a fresh install of Yosemite 10.10.01 Booted up the machine and
Time machine not working in yosemite. Its displaying nothing , i can see the dates from a few weeks back but nothing. iI tried restore using time machine and this worked ok why ? i need some selected apps and my pics back i thought i had Iworm thats why i formatted.
While in Time Machine, press the key combination shift-command-C. The front window will show all mounted volumes. All snapshots should now be accessible. Select the one you want and navigate to the files you want to restore.
Great! i did press several times shift-command-c then i went back on my folder (i needed to see some files on desktop folder) all files were magically turned visible again so all the other files in the other folders. Thank you so much.
Appeared to work, but attempting to select Music from the Favorites resulted in loss of some historical windows, and they did not return with either repeated shift-command-c or attempting to select the hard drive in the Devices.
Too bad... I was really hoping!
Thanks all Do you have to have your main HDD high lighted then before you can go back ?. I was trying to go back with the applications screen open
Tried shift, command C and nothing. All it did was pop up a window with colors.
While the "shift command C" keystroke combination didn't seem to do anything, it finally brought the Time Machine backup system to life! It has not worked since I installed Yosemite.
Now I can't remember where the "Recovered messages" are kept in Mail....
I couldn't get Mail to display the recovered messages. After 10 minutes of futility, I quit Mail, rebooted it and then expanded the "On my Mac" tab and lo and behold, there they were.
In general, Mail has been VERY buggy since upgrading to Yosemite.
Actually I just checked and I am running El Capitain. The Time Capsule backups have not worked and I suspect the problem is the Mail application in newer OS X iterations. When I enter Time Machine, I often get a "non-responding" error message for Mail. Time Machine will set up with all the windows but simply not work. When I tried the "shift command c" keystroke combination it seemed to get it working. Weird!
At least I can now use Time Machine.
On a different note; if I buy a new Time Capsule is there a way to transfer the backups from the old Time capsule to the new one??
