Bad auto-type typos and inconsistencies on iPad Air

AAll the typos are from auto-type:

iiPad air iOS 8.1.1

ipad air ios 8.1.1

as you can see, certain auto type functions are not working, others are intermittent.

Notice that the 1st letter on new lines after pressing Return are not capitalizing or cap the first two letters.

see? The "s" in "see" is not See

sometimes the 1st character "i" like in the very first line, repeats, while the P and OS did capitalize in line one, but not in line two. I hate intermittent issues!

DOuble clicking the space bar doesn't always insert the period.

placing the cursor in an existing line of text take several tries on the new iPad with ios8.x unlike previous iPads ive had. Notice the apostrophe is missing from "I've" to the left.

i Think you've seen enough. Although in this line the first "i" didn't cap as either the first letter of a new sentence or being I for me is always capped. And then the "T" in think got capped wrongly.

-------

APplecare did an over the phone diagnostic and said 3 apps were crashing:, Netflix, MotionX (gps) and Safari and my RAM memory was too high and the problem could be software or hardware so hard reset and see if the problem resolved. If not, Apple would give me a new iPad.

I went to a genius bar for more testing first because if hardware I didn't want to reconfigure Twice, both the old and then new.

tthe genius bar hard reset, installed iOS 8.1.1 (I was using iOS 7.x on the old one) and with only OEM apps the problem resisted, so I got a new iPad with iOS 8.1.1.

WE tested and the problem persisted! And still is this morning, badly.

SO how a new iPad with new iOS could have the same auto type problem and a little worse.

so I'm asking the community if perhaps there's a setting Apple and I missed in the old and new iPad which is the only thing I can imagine that could be consistent across 2 devices with different iOS's.

Crazy problem. And I'm stumped as is Apple.

last symptom, when I try to place the cursor in existing text, and it takes a few tries, where I place my finger, the cursor appears lines of text away nowhere near my finger, and sometimes the I get a blinking blue 1 pixel line on the right of the entire text field from top to bottom. My old iPad didn't do this.

ANY ideas or recommendations?

thanks

steven

VVirtually every problem that you have described with regard to the keyboard/typing issues are probably a function of the crappy Jive software that runs this forum. We all get the same thing that you get here in the ASC. Bad autocorrect, double caps or no caps at all at the beginning of a new line.

see how my characters are very much like yours. Do you get this in all area when you type, or mainly here in the ASC forums?

All of the iPads will behave the same way with the built in virtual keyboard. As stated, third party keyboard apps may not experience this issue, but I prefer not to use a third party app keyboard since they can access the data that you type. I don't want another third party app accessing my data.

I don't use an external Bluetooth keyboard with my iPad so I don't know how they will work in this situation. I really don't want to have to spend the money for another keyboard. I want to use the built in keyboard and have it function properly, as it should!

I installed Swiftkey and was going to reply here to test it, but my iPad won't open a text window after clicking Reply, so I'm on my Mac Pro now. Maybe I can't use iPad after assigning my question was solved, which I gave to Demo?

I have 2 other sites where I notice

And after ready the warning that Demo supplied above, I deleted Swiftkey immediately and will never use a 3rd party board. I hate to use this over used saying but I doubt, Steve would allow such privacy compromising issues as the warning discusses. Having been a loyal Apple user 100% since 1985, I'm stunned Apple would ever allow such privacy problems.

I did read Swiftkey's statement about this which says that if you don't use their Cloud feature, they won't, hopefully can't, view what you type. But I'm with Demo. Given all the data theft and hacking that's so rampant today, why on Earth would we ALLOW someone to have our data knowingly and willingly.

It's a real shame because the virtual keyboard pretty much *****. There is PLENTY of room for arrows, Control, Option, Command. I use SplashTop to access my Mac with my iDevices, it's like LogMeIn, and here's a screen of their keyboard. Why Apple doesn't have more keys? Beyond me. It's virtual for goodness sake which was a big point Steve made about the iPhone's keyboard and overall interface. Yet we have the same keyboard as always. Hmm

Personally, we really don't need a space bar as wide as it is and added keys could go down there. Look how much smaller arrow keys are for example on MacBooks as an example.
