Q: iPhoto unable to import edits in photos from iPad

Previously there was at least a kludge-y way to preserve iPad photo edits by exporting to Camera Roll in batches of 100 and then importing the batch into iPhoto on the Mac . Now there's no way at all. I edited over 600 photos (shot with my digital camera and imported to iPad) while on a recent trip (having to learn the new iOS Photo app, which lacks many of the nice editing features that iOS iPhoto had), only to find that the only way I can import the photos with the edits is to e-mail them to myself! I don't have time or patience to do that for 600+ shots! Furthermore, when (without warning) iPhoto for iOS became inoperable with the iOS8 "upgrade", it took 12 hours for my edited pix on the iPad to import into Photo. I shudder to think how long it will take to convert our current Yosemite iPhoto library of 46,000 pix when iPhoto and Aperture disappear and are replaced by the new "improved" Photo for Yosemite! I thought these changes were supposed to make it easier for all of our devices to stay in synch! This change was poorly thought through and even less well communicated!!! If anyone's found a solution (other than the e-mail one) please post. I hope Apple will avoid a similar debacle when the current iPhoto for Yosemite goes away!
