Q: Unable to add my Google Calendar to 10.8 Calendar App

I am having a very strange problem I hope someone can assist me with. I am running an iMac with Mac OS 10.8.5 and for some reason when I try to add my Google calendar account I get the following message...

"Calendar found a CalDAV server but couldn't log in with the user name "xxx@xxx.com". Make sure the user name and password you entered are correct, then try again."

I obfuscated the user name but the actual error message shows my correct Google calendar email address.

I am able to add the same calendar to a MacBook Pro I have running 10.9 and to my iPhone running iOS8. I am also able to log into my Google calendar using Safari or Firefox with no problems. I tried adding another Google calendar account that I know is valid and it also failed with the same message.

Why might I be unable to add a Google calendar to the Calendar application Version 6.0 (1648)?

I figured this out, I should have been paying attention to my email. Google sent me an email titled "Google Account: sign-in attempt blocked" and after following the instructions in that email I was able to add my calendar.

This also happens if you try to add multiple gmail calendar accounts. I ended up with using one account and (from the calendar settings of the other calendar) giving the first calendar access/write rights  from the second calendar.

    Then it automatically appeared.
