Iphone 6 has dumped most of my contacts

ipnone 6 has dumped most (60%) of my contacts. where did they go?

iPhone 4, iOS 5.1.1

Are you syncing them via iCloud? If so, turn off Contacts under iCloud, click "Keep on My Phone". Then turn them back on again. You will be asked if you want to Merge with iCloud. Click on Merge. They should be restored when you do that.

thanks. but before I did that i went from 98 contacts to 38 ... these actions did not restore the lost 60 contacts? help

Can you sign onto iCloud.com on a computer and see if the Contacts are still showing in iCloud?
