My old email adress linked to iCloud, does not longer exist

I want to reinstall the whole content and settings in my iPad mini 2. But the thing is that when I connected my Apple ID to iCloud I used my old email adress, before I changed to a new email adress now connected to Apple and iCloud. So the not longer existing email is on my iPad and I can't change it, I know my password I used on the Apple ID I used with my old email adress, but because my email adress is no longer in Apples systems or existing, I can't change my iCloud account on my iPad that is really frustrating. I have tried to connect to iTunes, iForgot etc. But everywhere I have tried (also in Electronic Stores selling Apple products) does not know what to do, and I can't turn off either "find my iPad" or delete the whole content because of the security. Can someone please help me, what to do. I really need help. 😢

It doesn't matter if your Apple ID Account is "labeled" by an old e-mail,address, as that "Apple ID" is just a "name" for your account. You can sign in to your Apple ID account using that same "name" (called your "Apple ID) even if that name is no longer a working and valid e-mail address. So just sign into your Apple ID, use your password and then update the information for your account to get a new "notification e-mail address" entered into your account. SO, this new e-mail notification address can be any other e-mail address you are using, and you still keep your Apple ID "name" or "label" which may be a non-working address ... that's okay.

I am having a similar problem--maybe worse. I have an old email/id apple iCloud account on an iPad mini that I can't delete because the email is totally defunct and I cannot remember the password.

I have a newer iCloud account that I use for everything and have no problem with it, except that I cannot use it on my iPad mini because it keeps asking me for the old account's password. I have read through the boards and am stuck!

So, defunct email and forgotten password and I don't care if I have to reset the entire mini as long as it wipes out the old iCloud account. I haven't used the mini for a while so it doesn't have anything that can't be synced.

HELP- please. Soo frustrating to realize mistakes in hindsight! Thanks, Alison
