The file ul_msvcp80.dll is missing from QuickTime.cab

Purchased a Windows 8.1 laptop for my wife and kids. I am attempting to install QuickTime and keep running into the an error about a missing file in the installation cab.

Has anyone else seen this error or know how to resolve it? I have seem some posts in the iTunes support forum about similiar issues but nothing helpful. Seems pretty clear from the error that something is not included in the Quick Time installation files being provided by Apple.

Thanks for the reply Jacumba.

No, this is a brand new laptop, very little installed actually and this was my first attempt to install QuickTime.

As for AntiVirus I am running the built-in Windows Defender. I had not thought to disable this and gave that a shot. unfortunately no change, I still receive the error.

I am now trying to download an older version of QuickTime to see if it will install.

Well ok, going to close this thread.

Apparently Windows Updates had applied and the computer was simply waiting for a reboot. I never received a notification about this but in my list of troubleshooting steps I checked for updates and saw the status when I did.

Once restarted and updates applied QuickTime installed without issue.

Windows 8 is something else.
