Well iOS 8 devices are not recognized by "Classic" Mac operating systems. So unless you have a Mac with a Classic operating system from 2003 or earlier Mac, you posted in the wrong forum. Go to Apple menu -> About This Mac to find out what operating system you have. And if you don't have an Apple menu, but have Windows, then you really should be posting this question in iTunes for Windows forum. See this user tip on where to post based on what you have:

If you do have a Mac with a Classic operating system, unfortunately the last iOS that will work with those Macs is iOS 5.1.1. See this tip on what old operating systems from Apple support what old iOS versions:


iOS 6 and above, and Mac OS X 10.5.x
