Finder- Today, Yesterday & Past week. Are they gone?

I recently upgraded to Yosemite and discovered that Yesterday, Today & Past week are no longer in my Finder sidebar. I've looked through all the preference options and can't find how to turn them back on. Have these features been eliminated with the update? I hope not because I used them every day and thought it was something that really was user friendly and a time saver.

So I made smart folders. The one for Today was set up with the following search criteria; Search This MAC, Kind Document, Last opened Today. This should give me what I was looking for, but it doesn't list any documents, even though I've had some open and closed/re-opened finder...etc. So I changed it to; Search This MAC, Kind Any, Last Opened Today. The old system would show me every document I had opened that day. What I get by using ANY is I see the APP that was used, but not the individual document. So for example, I may edit 5 documents with Pages, saving them all into various files. When I wanted to e-mail one off, I would just go to "Today", and all 5 would be listed. Now what I have is it showing me that Pages was opened, and not each individual document. So the question I have now is; What do I have configured wrong? Or does the Document option have a glitch or some other reason that it won't work as before. I made smart folders for Yesterday, Today, Last Week, and 2 weeks, and they are all behaving the same as described.
