I just went to the Airport Utility app on my iPhone, tapped the Time Capsule icon, then Version, and it gave me the update options from there...

On your Mac, depending on your settings, opening Airport Utility should check for an update automatically and advise accordingly.

JUST IN CASE you don't know (F4 - then click Airport Utilities) 😉

Sorry but clearly I was not "clear" with my question. I am an apple user for well over a decade, and aware of AU, it use and how to... the issue here was beyond Airport Utility. My Airpot Utility is not, for what ever reason, doing the update of my Airport Extreme firmware upgrade from 7.6.4 to 7.7.3 so I want to download the firmware and go about it manually. So question is real simple, and again, does anyone knows where one can go about manual download of 7.7.3 firmware. So thanks for the advice, but to me it was useless 😉

1. Grow up and while you are going through that process see #2 & #3 😉

2. My reply was not condescending, it stated the fact that you provided no value with your input and that any user would know what you are suggesting!

3. Even your latest input is incorrect, as that link DOES NOT provide download for obtaining airport extreme 7.7.3 firmware manual download

4. Regardless of it all, thank you for trying to help! ...but still review your info and try to figure out how helpful you really were And if you don't get it, don't worry.

Good comeback...no really.

That link is correct, all viable updates for Apple products across the board are there (in a nice blue "download" link where appropriate), and only a handful are not. Your 7.7.3 Airport Extreme firmware does not seem to be on that list but like I said, "for future reference". Since my first post suggested you upgrade your firmware from your iPhone using Airport Utility, I will regard my advice as sound, and rather that you were unwillingly to try it. A simple google search would of directed you to website such as TechSpot and more, were you can, at your own risk, download your illusive update but I was not willing to suggest these on my own recommendation.

The key is that your version of Airport Extreme is newer version supporting 802.11ac and then within Airport Utility as you click on your Airport Extreme and small pop up shows up on the right hand side click on the version number and hold "option" key which will reveal the pop down list of all version you ever had on the unit, and last option would be "other" which when you select will open up finder window allowing you to select basebinary version you want to apply. Worked for me, and I see no reason why it wouldn't work for you. Hope this helps.

7.7.3 can only be installed on a newer 802.11ac AirPort Extreme or Time Capsule.

You are not saying that you managed to update an AirPort router that was running 7.6.4 to 7.7.3 are you?

You might have been able to update to 7.7.3 from 7.7.1, but you would not be able to update 7.6.4 to 7.7.3 unless you have magic tools. And, even if you could do this, 7.7.3 would take away some features that were present in 7.6.4, so I'm not sure what the benefit would be.

Something was wrong if 7.7.3 was not already displayed as an available update in AirPort Utility for your 802.11ac product. You should not have had to manually download the firmware.

No magic, but I had a real weird situation that I have no way to explain. So when I wanted to upgrade using the airport utility which logically should pull 7.7.1 first and then later 7.7.3, neither would work. I restored to factory defaults in the mena time of this original posting, however pull down menu was not showing 7.7.1 rather it was still displaying 7.6.4, hence why I was so eager to get 7.7.3 binary and do manual upgrade. AS I found the code, before I went about manual process I went into my ~/Library/Applications Support/Apple/AirPort directory to check the version.xml file and voila it showed how I do have 7.7.1 running and installed way back , so then I proceeded the manual process I described above and it worked. You are correct definitely because 7.7.1 was already there, but to for me unknown reason it is not showing on the Airport Extreme and in the drop meny I explained/described, however definitely there and clearly reason I was able to do manual upgrade. In the light of my question and wasted exchanges with the previous poster I didn't describe this part because it was irrelevant as I was only asking how I can get the code. If I had time to deal with the bigger issue here I would ask Apple, ok why my utility was not pulling 7.7.1 or 7.7.3 and why I had to do all of this to finish simple process that should in reality happen in matter of minutes (I do not have check auto weekly for the code not do I like or trust that feature i.e. don't like auto upgrades...I like to see upgrades done, ppl use it, not report issues and then I do my upgrades). Hope this clarifies it further.

Editing /augmenting my response with a comment - I was even contemplating to complain to apple and reseller I got my device year + ago to possibly replace the unit, but now that it all worked out I am happy.
