Syncing my iTunes Music Library from my iPad to my new MacBook Pro

Hi I recently connected my iPad to my new MacBook Pro. On my iPad I have both bought and CD imported music. On the MacBook Pro, in iTunes I clicked on 'Devices' then 'Sync my iPad'.

Only some of the music I have on my iPad was synced. The rest I can't access on my MacBook Pro and this includes purchased music.


What is the reason and how can I rectify it?


Is the only way to import the CD imports through iTunes Match?
