OS X Mountain Lion: Revert to a previous OS X version
But as others have commented to some with same request, why not "fix" what is not working rather than reverting?

Nov 22, 2014 10:11 AM in response to Sparkleberryby lauraofsuburbia,I didn't realize until after upgrading that two applications no longer work, and upgrades are not available. Unfortunately I haven't run a time machine backup in a while. I was hoping there was some way to simply boot to the previous OS 10.8.

Looks like you will have to find alternate(s) to the two apps.

Nov 22, 2014 12:13 PM in response to Sparkleberryby lauraofsuburbia,I'm also finding it annoyingly slow. I'd rather just downgrade if possible.

Nov 22, 2014 3:03 PM in response to lauraofsuburbiaby lauraofsuburbia,I dislike the look, and preferred 10.8. How can I downgrade if I don't have a time machine backup to go to?

Nov 22, 2014 4:01 PM in response to lauraofsuburbiaby MichelPM,What year and model is your MacBookPro? What OS X version of OS X did you have originally installed?

Nov 22, 2014 4:10 PM in response to lauraofsuburbiaby MichelPM,If you do not have any backups available, then the reverting/restoring process becomes much more complicated and involves purchasing an external drive and backing up your current system to that drive, then erasing, reformatting your Mac's internal hard drive and now your only options to installng an OS X version is doing a clean install of OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, then upgrading, again, to 10.8 Mountain Lion. OS X 10.9 Mavericks is no longer available for download and Apple has not made OS X 10.9 Mavericks available in any other form to be able to redownload and install.
If you had originally purchased OS X 10.8 Mountain, check the Mac App Store under the Purchased option to see if you can redownload and clean install OS X 10.8.
If this doesn't appear in your purchased items, then you might have to pay, again, for a download code for OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion here.

Good Luck.

Nov 23, 2014 6:45 AM in response to lauraofsuburbiaby Sparkleberry,I can't help you there. IMHO, this OS is the best of the OS that Apple has released. Based on the number of complaints on this board that seems to be a minority opinion.
The bulk of the installation problems described here stem from multiple foreign items in the login or startup sequence. Many operational issues described here stem from 3rd party software not playing by the rules. Some of it is plain user error or not understanding new(er) features.
