I received a tel call saying that my computer had been compromised. I assumed it is a scam call so I told the guy I would check it out myself and hung up. Has anyone else had this happen?

This topic caught my interest. I got a call like that, too. Caller claimed their system monitored a virus in my computer and that he'd help remove it. My instincts told kicked in and told me it was a scam. So I hung up.
By the way, the caller used a 520-877-3528 phone number. I looked it up at Callercenter and it appears to be a known scammer behind the calls. More than 20 complaints came up. Beware everyone!
Next time tell them that's very interesting because you don't own a computer.
I used to get this call all of the time. They would say they were with Microsoft and thatI have a problem with my windows computer. Since the mac is gaining in popularity, I now receive these calls with the generic "your computer" is having problems. If you tell them you don't have a computer they will immediately hang up. Now I just screw with them, and keep them on the phone. I ask them what I should do. With each instruction I say ok, and wait for the next instruction pretending I am following their instructions to the letter. When I get tired of amusing myself, I tell them to f**k off and hang up.
i got this in a moment of having hub issues & a screaming 3 yr old - so initially through it was genuine! - on getting further into the call they hung up when i started to question stuff

I said thanks for calling because yes indeed my microwave was not working and i have to make super so could he come over to fix it.
No response from the caller: he just hung up.
