There's some great information on how to setup and use Apple Pay with your new iPhone 6 in the following Knowledge Base article:
Set up and use Apple Pay - Apple Support
In particular to using the feature, these two sections should come in handy:
Use Apple Pay in stores and within apps
You can use Apple Pay with your iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus to pay in stores that accept contactless payments. You can also pay with Apple Pay within participating apps that sell physical goods and services, like groceries, clothing, tickets, reservations, and more.
Pay with Apple Pay in stores
On iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, you can use Apple Pay in stores that accept contactless payments. Look for one of these symbols at checkout:

To pay with Apple Pay using your default card, hold your iPhone within an inch of the contactless reader with your finger held on Touch ID without pressing it. (You can watch the demo to see how it works.) If you need to choose between "Credit" or "Debit" on the terminal, we recommend you to choose “Credit” to get the most consistent Apple Pay experience. Choosing “Debit” may not always work successfully with some older merchant payment terminals and backend systems. Some stores might have this symbol on their card readers and POS terminals, but they might not be currently set up to accept contactless payments including Apple Pay. At the current time, this includes 7-Eleven, Home Depot, and Jack in the Box. If you can’t use Apple Pay at a store that is displaying the contactless payment symbol, please let us know using our Apple Pay feedback form.
To pay with a different card:
- Hold your iPhone near the contactless reader without placing your finger on Touch ID. Your iPhone will wake up, and you'll see your default card on your screen.
- Tap your default card. From the list of cards, tap the one you want to use.
- Place your finger on Touch ID and move your iPhone near the reader to complete the payment. You might also need to sign a receipt, depending on the store and the transaction amount.
Make sure that you hold your iPhone near the reader until you feel a subtle vibration and see a checkmark on the screen. That's how you know that your payment information was sent.
Pay with Apple Pay in apps
On iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Air 2, and iPad mini 3, you can use Apple Pay to pay within apps when you see the “Buy with Apple Pay” or “Apple Pay” button as a payment method. Look for these buttons in apps:
To pay with Apple Pay within an app:
- Tap the "Buy with Apple Pay" button or "Apple Pay" button.
- Review your payment information and contact details. Enter other billing, shipping, and contact information if necessary. Apple Pay will store that information, so you won't need to enter it again.

- Place your finger on Touch ID to complete the payment.
When your payment information is sent successfully, you'll see “Done” and a checkmark on the screen.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
Cheers,
Pedro.
