Q: What is the source of location names (or map data) that are added to photos and how can they be corrected? They appear to be over 15 years out of date!

Location services tags photos with an associated location. Where is it getting these location names (the map source) and how can they be corrected when they are incorrect?

In this specific case, the photos are tagged with the name of a school that moved away in 1999, since which time the school has had a completely different name. And the school whose name is associated with the location has been located somewhere else since 1999 as well. So this doubly incorrect. However, if you look it up in Google Maps, Google Earth etc. the data are correct, so iOS must be getting the map data from some other source. What is it, and how can it be updated?
