Yamaha FC-5 foot switch to change patches?

Trying to help a buddy (he's at a different theatre and I'm not in front of the equipment right now). He has a Yamaha MOX8 and has the FC-5 foot switch plugged into the Assignable Foot Switch jack. It works perfectly for changing patches when just using the keyboard. He'd like to use it to change patches when connected to MS 3, but MS isn't even recognizing it (nothing lights up in the program).

Is there something that needs to be changed in the keyboard so that the switch data is sent to MS? Any other ideas?

Thank you so much in advance!

It looks like the MOX is receiving MIDI data — when looking at the MIDI Message Monitor and stepping on the pedal, it shows 3 instances (down, hold, release?). It also showed that they were on either bank 0 or bank 32 (the previous and next patch banks).

If it's showing up here in the MIDI Message Monitor, why can't I see it activating anywhere/anything else on the Layout page? I guess what I'm saying is, now that I've found that it is, indeed, communicating with MS, where can I locate it in there? I got it to work easily with my own Axiom keyboard and Boss foot switch, but this is just stumping me...
