Q: Sync

I have Yosemite on my iMac (27-inch, Late 2012), but after the update when I make a change on my calendar it doesn't seem to change on my iPhone 6 or my iPad mini.  Yet when I make an event or change an event on my iPhone 6 or iPad mini it will appear updated on the iMac.  Wondering what is happening.

iMac (27-inch, Late 2012), OS X Yosemite (10.10.1)

If you're using iCloud to sync calendars, only events in an iCloud calendar will sync. Calendars in the "On My Mac" group, if any, will not sync.

I am only using iCloud.  I have several different calendars within iCloud, like family, bills, etc... But when I make a change on my iMac it doesn't change them on my iPhone or iPad, yet when I make a change on the iPhone it does change it on my iMac.  Weird!  Is there a setting somewhere?

    Open Calendar (on the iMac)

Go to Calendar>Preferences>General and tell us what the default calendar setting is.

Sign in to icloud.com and see whether the calendars there are synced with the Mac.

Signed in online and all the calendars are there and they seem to sync well with my devices.  I tried making a change on the iPhone and seeing if it updates on the iMac and it did.  But when I reverse the roles and change something on the iMac it doesn't sync or update on the other devices.  I even logged out of my account on the iMac and set it all up just using the info on the iCloud, and again if I would change something on the iPhone of iPad it updates just fine on the iMac but if I make a change on the calendars on the iMac it does not sync with the other devices.

What I'm trying to find out is whether the changes you make on the Mac appear on the iCloud website. I know they don't appear on your other devices.

Ok.  I tried it.  I made changes on my iMac and checked if the changes appeared on iCloud.com but no.  But when I did them on the website the changes did appear on the iMac.  Does it have anything to do that the events are repeating events? This is really confusing.  Thanks for the help so far.

    1. Calendars in the On My Mac category, and calendars that sync with other network services such as Google, will not sync with iCloud.

    2. Back up all data, then take all the applicable steps in these support articles:

    iCloud: Troubleshooting iCloud Calendar

iCloud: Advanced Calendar and iCal troubleshooting

Nearly all sync issues should be resolved that way. Please make sure you've taken all the steps and tested adequately before continuing.

    3. If there are any calendars on your Mac that you don't synchronize with iCloud, export them by selecting them in the calendar list and then selecting

              File ▹ Export ▹ Export

from the menu bar. Quit Calendar.

    4. Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

    ~/Library/Calendars

Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select

              Services ▹ Reveal

from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder selected. Move that folder to the Desktop.

    5. Launch Calendar. Your calendars will initially be gone, but they should resynchronize with iCloud. If they don't, uncheck the boxes marked Calendars and Reminders in the iCloud preference pane, then re-check them.

    6. Import the calendars you exported in Step 3, if any, by double-clicking the files.

    7. If the issue is resolved, close the Finder window you opened in Step 4. Delete the exported files and the Calendars folder on the Desktop.

*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select

              Go Go to Folder...

from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
