I have forgotten my computer password which I need to set a new printer. how can I reset my computer password?

Here is the latest Apple document on Passwords. It would help if you could the add the Apple products you are using to your profile. There are often different answers for different products.

I assume you are talking about your User Account password rather than your Apple ID? Please see this document:

If you are running 10.6, boot off the DVD, then Utilities/Password Reset.
