Popping sound through earphones (IPad Air 2 WiFi 128 GB)

Hi,

I am getting a crackling/ poppingsound through my earphones whenever I start an application or whenever I start playing a song. It always appears once when the IPad starts playing sound and goes away afterwards. I should also mention that the sound can only be heard through the headphones, not the speakers. It is really very annoying. Am I the only one with that problem?

Hi LeCerfAgile,

Thanks for providing more information that you've already tried multiple headsets. Since that is the case, to isolate if it is a hardware issue on the iPad, then please restore the device to its factory settings in iTunes. If the issue persists then you'll need to seek service for the iPad.

I had this issue also. Unfortunately I returned the units because of a popping noise through the speakers as well. I think the two problems are related. The noise can easily be heard when pushing the home button for siri, swiping down for spotlight, and when first typing in a text box in safari through headphones. The external speaker pop is very random though. Another oddity I found through headphones is when going to sound settings and changing "change with buttons", then sliding the volume adjustment there, and then changing the "keyboard clicks" option, the sound it makes for a keyboard click lags and pops. It is by far the worst example of the weird noises coming from the headphones. Just wanted to share the issue to a specialist and others. Hoping for a fix for the future!

I also have this problem with my MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2013), ipad air 2, and my iphone 6s. It started in my mac with earphones. Then I tested multiple earphones to see if it was just the earphones itself. All 3 have this problem. The to restart the computer and watch youtube on my ipad instead. Suddenly it had the same problem in my ipad with all 3 earphones. I restarted everything and it still wasn't working. Finally, I went to my phone to answer a call with earphones on. It still made the sound! Now on my phone! I took out the earphones and suddenly my phone makes this really loud static sound. Keep in mind my devices make this sound even when there is no earphone plugged in now too! It's almost like a virus that keeps popping into every one of my devices. I know this isn't possible, but it sure feels that way. I can't call, stream videos, or do practically anything that involves sounds now because of this problem. Is there anything I can do to fix it? or is it more like something I would need to bring into the apple store?
