OS X Yosemite problem with ethernet adapter/ethernet

Hi Everyone,

I am at a boarding school in the south of the United Kingdom, at which I can only connect to the internet via a school ethernet system. for this I must connect to specific proxies and log in in the internet when I wish to use it. this was all working fine when i was operating on OS X mavericks. I should mention that as I am using a MacBook Pro with retina display, i am using a Asus WL-330NUL to adapt the ethernet port. however when i updated (which i was able to do on the school system) to os X Yosemite, the computer no longer connected through my Asus WL-330NUL or a thunderbolt adapter, in fact. it did not even register that the cable was plugged in at all (which i assure you that it was).

Bottom line, I need help in order to connect to the internet at all, through an ethernet port with an Asus WL-330NUL adapter or thunderbolt adapter on the end.

Also F.Y.I. there is no option to connect to Wifi at my school, but there is no problem with the wifi at the moment. i have also renewed the DCHP lease many times, to no avail.

Many Thanks,

~SamuelACMM~
