Apple Mobile Device Ethernet

I would like to know what happens when I connect my Iphone to a wired ethernet connection on my Windows XP. A second LAN appears under the name "Apple Mobile Device Ethernet." If I disable the first LAN and enable the Apple LAN, am I using the hotspot on my Iphone to search the Internet on the XP? The reason I ask is that the Internet filter has blocked access to Google Drive, so I thought I would connect my Iphone via USB to be able to log in to Drive. Can my network admins see that I am connected via Apple Mobile Device Ethernet?
