I cannot change the city in the Weather widget on the Dashboard but it says "No cities found" if I type in any city.
Tried deleting the Dashboard and Weather Widget .PLISTs and restarting but it didn't work. Set up my network connection anew but no dice. Creating a new user didn't help either.

Apparently, it was a temporary server outage. Admins, please close this thread as it is no longer relevant/valid.
The problem arise again. Right now the weather widget is not working ("No cities found")

I just got a new MacBook Pro 15" on Sept 17, and this has been an issue for me too ever since I first booted it up.
Yep, I'm having the same issue on Lion. I even did a factory reset, because I thought it was my computer. Good to know now.

Same issue here - old widgets still load their information but whenever I add a new widget it cannot find any cities.

In short: modify /Library/Widgets/Weather/Weather.js to setup a new Default-City ("Cupertino") and prevent the script to go to the "closest city".
Same here....I'm in the third day of me noticing this is not working. I noticed it on Sunday when I was add a widget to the Dashboard for where I'm at this week.
No telling how long it's been going on.
I tried the workaround mentioned by @shell3001, and it does work - sort of.
I can successfully change the default city, and therefore create a new widget with the desired location.
However, I cannot have two weather widgets with different cities, since both will open to the same default city with no way to change one location.
Hello, I have the same problem, so it doesn't depend on Yosemite, my computer, or any other bug.
We have to wait that Yahoo "repares" something to found cities ?
