Has anyone else had this problem and how did you solve it? I am using an M Audio Fastback USB input to record to Keynote and the audio is only recording to the left channel/speaker. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong or how to fix this?

I tried that. Both channels were cranked up, but Keynote still only records to the left channel. I have pushed the mono/stereo button as well on the M-Audio FastTrack box and that did not impact the recording at all.
Can I ask then what you guys use to record your keynotes? It might be that M Audio will only do mono and I don't see an option in Keynote to have the mono track record left and right. Any help is appreciated.
I just found a video that showed how to make the mic into stereo, but I have to have an option to switch to one channel. There is no option that is given for the Fast Track device. So, I might just have to be a new USB input as that might be the problem.

I have done the driver updates to make sure everything is current.
System Properties > Sound
in the output tab, select Fast Track USBand centre the Balance slider
in the input tab, select Fast Track USB and move the volume slider to the far right
Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI setup > M-Audio > Input; set the master to the far right
The front panel controls affect analogue phono out connectors and the headphone jacks for monitoring, they do not control recording.
I've done all that. The problem is that I can only select the master for the input on the M Audio. I can only do the left and right. I have played with those sliders
and it made no difference. Thanks for your patience.
Does the M-Adio record and playback correctly to both channels using Quicktime Player?
Nope. It only records in the left channel as well. I have Garageband set up with mono so it just copies the left track into the right track. So mono, but mono over two channels. I found a video where one can set the channel integer to 1 channel in the MIDI settings. The problem is that Fast Track/ M Audio only has an option 2 channel. I can either have 24 or 16 bit over 2 channels. So, it might be that I need a different interface. I was thinking about upgrading to a Focusrite on the Apple Store, but I don't want to run into the same problem.
Your device set up looks as if its connecting, so your M-Auidio might be faulty.
I would try and borrow a USB interface to test this in Quicktime and or Keynote.
Theres plenty of folk and any of our local music shops willing to allow there USB interfaces to be tested.
Thanks for you time. I just wanted to make sure that it was not completely a "me" problem or a case where I just needed to check the manual. I'll do that next week sometime and see if someone will let me borrow a USB interface.
One further thought; as an alternative to using the troublesome equipment, buy one of these items, Iv used them both to create voiceovers for educational presentations in a variety of Mac applictions . My local supermarket have them, both are from logitech, using a USB digital connection, cost is around £15-00:
