Nov 25, 2014 3:58 PM in response to brunabellaby Peggy,It sounds like you're trying to use AppleWorks 5 or earlier. AppleWorks 6 works on PPC & Intel Macs in OS X 10.4.11 through 10.6.8.

Nov 25, 2014 4:49 PM in response to brunabellaby VikingOSX,If you have OS X 10.6.8 or later, use the free LibreOffice which will open ClarisWorks/AppleWorks v5/6 documents that were created on Mac or Windows. The download will take you to an optional donation page, pause for abit, and then continue with the download.
When the download is complete, click once on the icon next to your Trash icon in the Dock. Then click once on the bottom file of displayed files — this is the LibreOffice installer. Everything will be installed into one application icon in /Applications (including fonts). Right-click on this LibreOffice icon, and select Open. From this point on, you can double-click the icon to launch LibreOffice, or drag/drop it onto your Dock.
Once you have your AW documents open, LibreOffice can save them in varying MS Office document formats for better portability.
