How do I make a Genius bar appointment?

I am trying to make an appointment at the Genius Bar, which used to be simple and quick. I have spent half an hour going around in circles, and still cannot make one. There is just no link to the actual appointment page. Has this service been discontinued? Very frustrating!

Try this link:

I just typed in apple retail store and on the site it had genius bar reservations listed around the bottom of the page. This link should take you there though.

After looking into the URL posted above, I tried to change the US to UK.

That took me to several other pages including a new design Locator page.

Then, a different page appeared (did not keep track of the path) where I

could click in little maps of regions, including Europe. Then icons with

country names appeared, as did the United Kingdom. So I clicked again.

It was a page like this:

•Apple - Support - Choose Your Country & Language:

https://getsupport.apple.com/SASOLocaleAction.action

This is the URL I see, to a page of GB choices. Your mileage may vary:

•Apple UK - Support and Service Options:

https://getsupport.apple.com/GetSASO?locale=en_GB&PRKEYS=PF9

So it may be possible to trip, stumble, and fall across some leads to get into

a position to make the appointment to have a Genius or Specialist help you.

I'd read elsewhere the system had changed, but had not tried. I've only been

in an Apple Store once, and walked through slowly, totally without interruption.

And felt rather transparent. It's the only official Store in my State, & rather new.

•I'd previously been using a different set of links to find a Country Selector:

https://locate.apple.com/country - find your region/country.

Then find a Region & Country (place nearest a country?) + click on Name or Flag: UK

User uploaded file UK

However your visit works out... keep us posted.

Good luck & happy computing! 🙂

•PS: after digging around awhile, I found a page with this URL:

https://getsupport.apple.com/Reservation.action

From the page as listed, any purchased item from Apple that was registered

with a serial number will appear; then the serial number could be used to set

an appointment (along with Apple ID) for the product.

Did you click on the image/icon of the product, & not on the link to coverage?

When I look at that page, my purchased products include models of Mac

and AirPort, portable mac, and others, from over 10 years ago. You don't?

And I can still get support/service options on my G4 iBook 12" model.

Just now. Others that I did not buy new, can also have arrangement

made for the Genius to see, diagnose, and offer advice on their issues.

The Genius people in an Apple Store have been advising product owners

on matters regarding service options, test diagnostic, and the like, even

though the products may be past their warranty &/or AppleCare coverage.

So that is why I mention the page where content is visible when you log-in.

Since it is relevant to most users who may need to know this, even after

the initial complementary warranty, a record; & remains helpful later on.

Anyway, you should be able to contact a Store or Specialist, through the

locator links, and ask they how they can contact you when a reservation

or appointment can be made concerning a specific product issue. They

can call you when a time is open, even if you don't see one available.

I was able to go online and could have set a Genius appointment at the

Apple Store in AK (not just a reseller, the official one) and could set one

for any of those older Apple products I've owned for years, as well as

the last Used (2005) Mac that I was given -- none of mine have a warranty.

In any event... your experience may vary, as do mine.

Good luck & happy computing! 🙂

OK, so I am sitting in the Apple store in Newcastle, waiting for my appointment. I had to physically walk in here last week to make an appointment, and they did it no problem. The new procedure is to solve problems over the phone or chat, as (so he said) they have had a lot of people making appointments, and then arriving and finding they could not be helped in the store. Whether or not this is because of warranty, I will find out shortly, because I am out of warranty. But I was not asked when the appointment was made.

If you go through all the steps on-line with your problem, and it cannot be solved that way, you are supposed to be taken to the appointment page. But, all I want is to have my computer's innards vacuumed out, as it is always on my lap collecting lint. This is a preventive measure, so we'll see if they will take care of me, with our without charge.

Thanks to everyone for your assistance! My faith in humans being willing to helping strangers is restored!

Apparently this process only works this way for those whose Apple products are still under warranty and who have active one to one memberships. When I click on the link for each product I am informed coverage is expired and I am NOT given an option to make a genius bar appointment. You can only continue one to one for 3 years from the time you buy your product. Prior to these latest changes, I was able to make a genius bar appointment even though my warranties and one to one membership were expired. This apparently is Apple's way of forcing me to buy new products or to pay for service. I don't need new products. The ones I have are just fine except now I have no genius bar access! The one to one, Apple Care and genius bar were a big draw for me when I switched to Apple products (especially switching from a PC to MacBook). I am very disappointed in Apple now. 😠 I am very angry about this!!!!!!

OHO! The real problem revealed! Your link took me eventually to a Genius Bar appointment, but in the US. I am living in the UK now, and it is there that I cannot find the same links. If I go to the exact same page logged in with my UK ID, there is no genius bar appointment link after the "take in for service" block, only chat, schedule a call, and call-back options.

So at least this has shown me the problem is in the UK. I'll go into the Apple store today and find out what is happening. Of course when I tried to call the store, there was a long queue to wait.

Thanks for all your help, jchrisman14! No solution to my problem, but I can at least get off the computer now! Happy Thanksgiving.

Earlier this month, when the changes were let known to the public, other sites provided info... here's one:

•Apple Changes the Procedure to Schedule a Genius Bar Appointment: [Posted November 9th, 2014]
https://sites.google.com/site/appleclubfhs/news/11-09-14-apple-changes-the -procedure-to-schedule-a-genius-bar-appointment

The screen shots and other bits of information may prove helpful to someone, if they saw them before a

process of discovery. Some users opted to have Apple return a call to them with an appointment time, as

the method to do so appears to be available to some if not most areas with a Genius or specialist.

Since using the Apple ID is one of the changes to allow access, a new user of a used product may not

have that identification unless they already were a customer or an ASC discussions participant...

In any event...

Good luck & happy computing! 🙂

Thanks for this link. But, when I get on there, there is no actual link to an appointment page. Just to my products, which then takes me to on-line support, more questions about specific products and issues, but I have never found an actual appointment page. It says Genius Bar at the top of the page, but is must just be an on-line Genius Bar. Or am I just completely missing something here?
