iMovie is meant for organizing and editing camcorder material.

Screenflow is a highly specialized Screen-recording and editing tool; it allows for instance to zoom-in into recordings without any quality-loss (of Finder elements), you can high-light mouse-clicks with some audio- and visual-effects, etc etc.

check the websites for in depth discriptions........

Thanks for the help and advice

You're welcome 😀

I forgot: you can 'mix' both apps, export from within ScreenFlow to add some 'movie flavor' with iMovie - but, as mentioned before: iMovie asks for 'video'-standards, and most screen-recordings have a very different resolution than video, so, you'll notice unwanted scaling-losses doing so ....

If you need just some 'basic' screen-recordings, the standard QuicktimeX player app, every Mac comes with, does it too! No need to spend 80$ on Screenflow....-
