Export from Pages 09 Version 4.3 to pages 5.5.1?

Could someone please advise me how to convert a long document on Pages 4.3 to the latest Pages so that it can be accessed on another Mac only running the latest Pages Version? (Using a memory stick to transfer the file).

Thanks.

You could export your doc in Word format. The other end should be able to open that with Pages, if for some reason they can't just open your .pages file.

I would agree with Tom's reasoning.

Pages v5 (any sub-version) lacks about 100+ features found in Pages ’09. Although Pages v5 will open Pages ’09 documents, it will only translate supported features — potentially leaving you with a document that looks nothing like the original. For example, linked text boxes will be dropped.

No version of Pages is a Word clone, but by first exporting your long Pages ’09 document to Word, and in turn, opening the Word document in Pages v5 — you will find that Pages is far more liberal in the translation of Word, than with Pages ’09 documents.
