incomplete Calendar search results

When searching for all instances of repeating Calendar events, I am unable to get a complete result. The first two years are left out of the scroll list entirely and there are gaps of several months in the years that do appear. These are repeating, identical events but some dates just aren't found even when I'm looking right at the calendar entry. How can I get searches to include all dates when ongoing events have occurred?

This has been a problem for some time but the gaps are much greater now. 2015 Macbook Pro, Calendar 8.0, Yosemite 10.10.1
