IPhone privacy when sending for repair.

Can apple employees access my photos, messages or any of my personal data when I send my IPhone in for a repair when it hasn't been reset?

My IPhone 5C has a problem where it doesn't accept any chargers, or charge at all when I plug in offical and unnofficial chargers, before when my phone was working, the battery life would last maybe 2-4 hours at 100% and often overheat if left on, and since I can't charge my IPhone to back up the data or reset my IPhone and update it,I have to send it away, with all of my personal information, apps, photos and accounts logged in on it.
Can the Apple employees access my IPhone and the data such as Photos in camera roll, videos, IMessage, text messages, call history? and if they CAN are they allowed to? is there a policy against viewing the persons personal information such as photos etc on the phone?

Thankyou

iPhone 5c, iOS 7.0.1

Play it safe, perform an iPhone backup to your computer or iCloud (or both if you're really cautious). If you do backup to your computer (which is probably best) you can also encrypt your backup if you'd like -- just make sure you remember your backup's password. Also make sure that your contacts are synced somewhere because contacts are not really part of your iPhone backup -- but if they're synced to iCloud, Gmail, etc. then its just a matter of setting up the iCloud or Gmail account to recover your contacts.

Once you've done that, on your iPhone select Settings/ General/ Reset/ Erase All Content and Settings. That will wipe it clean, and is probably what Apple would do anyway, but you can do this to ensure your information is erased before getting to them.

You seem to recommend Dr. Fone a lot. Do you work for Wondershare or have some other financial interest in that company? If so, you should disclose that.

As Lawrence says, there's no need to pay for software to back up your iPhone.

You need a complete backup of your phone. I'd make more than one. Use dropbox.com

Does apple guarantee you will get your phone back? Do they allow for substitutions?

Apple can read the contents of your phone before iOS 8. Read online discussion of ios encryption

However, i doubt employees who fix phone have access to reading a password protected phone.

Hi, I know how you feel about it. To repair your iPhone, sure Apple workers will access to your iPhone. And generally, after the repair, all your data will be deleted completely. Here are my suggestion:

1. If all these data on your iPhone is very important for you, before sending it away, try Dr.Fone for iOS to backup important data from it.

2. After then, to keep your privacy, you're supposed to use SafeEraser to erase all data from your iPhone.
