Users of my Windows 7 laptop set up as users on the iMac can access folders on the iMac but not individual files. Why not? I have tried to set up sharing but it doesn't work. SMB and AFP are both on.

Yes of course. I have everything set up correctly as far as I can see. Users can access folders and see the list of files in them, but not open the files.
