Brian, Thank you. I am not entirely sure how I should back up my iTunes on my PC to iCloud. I cannot see a link to that. Currently, my ipad has around 150 songs, which as I flip through I can see they are some recent ones that I have purchased. My ipod classic on the other hand has nearly 10000 songs, which came generally from my CD collection (over many hours of loading them in). Are these considered "my purchases"?

I Don't usually make remarks like this, but don't pay any attention to Brian's advice. It is part of his boilerplate "I haven't used a PC, blah, blah, blah." It has absolutely nothing to do with what you want to do.

I saw part of your last discussion and you said that you were stuck on "waiting for chanegs to be applied" Is that still what is happening? A little advice... You need to explain in detail what is happening when you want help.

NO, the 10000 songs that you imported into iTunes do not count as purchases.

Demo, Oh, Oh! Actually, nothing is happening at the moment. In fact it has been that way for some time. So, I have 9776 songs on my iPod which I bought when they first came on the market. Put on there by installing all the CD's I have (and no matter what, I am not going through that again). Additionally, I have bought music here and there and this is all that shows in the iPad (128 titles). I also just bought an iPhone 6 for my wife, I then inherited the 5 from her and it also shows only 128. Cannot quite get my head round that one, iTunes shows all this music and also is on the ipod but I cannot replicate this on my ipad. I think I will pay for a pro version of copytrans and load them up that way.

logimac it may be that iTunes is set to manual, then you have to drag the files you want over on to the left side to your tablet, or you have not either ticked to load full library or ticked the tracks/albums you wish iTunes to transfer, click on music after connecting iPad and see how you are set, also in settings, set to allow iTunes to manage, the select the albums I want and drag into iTunes, then I just tick for whole library. Demo,

Googled the error code and found this:

Error -54 is a file permissions issue -
if you open the Start menu & type %userprofile% (including both % symbols) then hit Enter you should see the My Music folder, which is the default location for iTunes music files.

Open My Music, select the iTunes folder

Then, make sure you have sufficient control over the contents of that folder -

  • right-click on the folder, go to Properties
  • Security tab, Advanced..
  • Permissions tab, Change Permissions...
  • click your account name in the list, make sure it says 'Full Control' [if not, reply to that effect & we will need to revise this answer]
  • check the box underneath for "Replace all child object permissions with inheritable permissions from this object"
  • click OK. That should recursively give correct permissions right down the folder hierarchy.

Did all that and tried again - all sorted. Music is there!!!!!!

No matter how many times I sync my itunes library on my PC to my ipad, it does not change the content in the actual ipad. Help please
