how to enter fractions which look like fractions NOT 1/2

Is it possible to enter fractions in a pages document so that it looks like a fraction i.e. the denominator is underneath the numerator NOT 1/2. This is possible in Microsoft Word which does it automatically.

As you are typing in a sentence, Pages will not automatically transform 1/2 into a vertically stacked fraction. You are restricted to using beveled fractions directly from the special characters palette (search for fr), which will auto-fit into the current font-size and line-height, or pasting graphical fractions that will disrupt these line qualities. MathType may help here as a plug-in for Pages ’09. It may work differently with Pages v5.

Many thanks. I knew there had to be a way as converted Word documents were successfully converted into Pages showing the fractions. It is a bit of a round about way of doing it however. I think Pages needs to be improved to convert automatically.

ONce again thanks. I did look at ecial characters but couldn't find fractions until I persisted after your help
