How do I resize to 800x600 pixels and save in new folder or with new name

I have tried and tried and read help but can't do this. I like to crop my photos individually then save to about 800 wide or 600 high, obviously each photo after cropping will be and individual size and 800 wide may not be 600 high it might only be 435. I understand the principle of custom mode and constrain, but the photo then keep reverting to the original cropped size. I have been trying since I changed to apple some months ago, and my blog www.thebusphoebeandme.us has not been updated since June

Any help in this would be appreciated, surely it must be easy to do and I am just missing the point.

Why do you think the photo "keeps reverting to the original cropped size"? and what do you expect? when you crop then that is now the photo size unless you revert to original or undo the crop. How are you accessing the photos?

probably the best way to do this is to export the photos to a desktop folder using the export option to set a maximum dimension then upload to you blog from that folder deleting the photos after uploading - see Exporting From iPhoto
