Nov 28, 2014 6:12 AM in response to amyefrontzby andynick,Press the "R" key and on the music track, click where you want the change to start and drag to the end.
The area will now be highlighted in yellow.
Grab the audio level bar down to the required level and your audio will now have keyframes which "duck" the audio down during the narration and back up when it ends.

Nov 28, 2014 7:59 AM in response to andynickby David Bogie Chq-1,There are more sophisticated methods. The human voice occupies a specific range of frequencies. You can find those using the advanced functions of spectral display. Then you set up an equalizer filter on the music tracks to remove most of those freqs from the music. You can now keep the music fairly loud with our covering up the voice.

That may be true, but for a beginner that is overkill.
Andy's method is by far the simplest. Make a selection and drag down. The keyframes are created by FCP X automatically.

Dec 1, 2014 12:03 PM in response to Luis Sequeira1by David Bogie Chq-1,Setting equalizer levels is how one advances from being a hack with a super cool video app with features one cannot understand to a legitimate video editor and maybe even an artist. If all we ever did around here was only give entry level advice to beginners they'd never get any better than entry level beginners.
I think beginners are fully capable of satisfying their curiosity with a desire to explore and understand how to use all the toys that come with their copy of FCPX.

Apr 1, 2016 11:05 PM in response to andynickby xiahyt,Press the "R" key and on my music track, yes I can click on where I want the change, making volume down or up. But I cannot move the track any more. How I can go back? I mean back where I could move the track. What I should press? Hope I make myself clear....
