does the iPhone 6 plus really need a case?

Hi Everyone,

just ordered a 6 plus and I can't wait to get it.

my 4s is in pristine condition after 2,5 years of constant use and it has allways been protected (only?) with a front and back films. a few months ago I switched a tempered glass for my screen. very happy with it.

now, I'd love to enjoy the look and feel of the 6 plus I just ordered as I have until now with my 4s (and 3g before that) but the net makes it sound like has to be placed in a super protective case.

would love to hear your real life experience of day to day with the device and what kind of protection it realy needs. I never needed a case before.

Cheers!

For my personal use the only kind of cases I've ever used are the Apple leather cases for the 6 and 5S, and the Apple bumper cases for the 4's. The only reason I have put those on is because I find the naked phones to be too 'slippery' to grip securely - if that makes any sense. I've never used screen protectors and I've never had any scratches on any of them. My work phone 4S had a OtterBox Defender so I could carry on my tool belt. I didn't like the bulk of it but it served it's purpose. Bottom line is how much protection you may need for the phone depends on how you intend to use it. If you've never needed a case before I doubt you'll need one now.

I'd really like to think so as well, who's using a tempered glass for the screen an a similar film/glass for the backplate that can shed some realistic light on this query? help is much appreciated.

people tend to get a bit hysterical when they see my uncased 4s, and yet after 2.5 it is still in better shape than everyone else's.....so if that's gonna be the case with the 6 plus I'll be satisfied.

I understand the 6 (and 6 plus) have a cureved screen and that most glass protectors are a bit dorky and dont go all the way to the end. would ones that go all the way be more fragile and by that endanger the screen or is full coverage better? is there a suggested tempered glass protector for the 6 plus?

Covering tempered glass with tempered glass would solve what? It too can be scratched and it too is breakable. How is the glass screen protector held in place? Like the laminated sheets of glass found in a vehicle windshield? While I like to take care of my gear it's still just a utilitarian phone that decreases in value no matter it's condition and I would definitely say is much less precious than gold or fine jewelry and who wears jewelry with protective covers.
