Q: how is calendar administrator set/changed?

I want to delete a birthday event on calendar. When I go to do so I am told only Calendar Administrator can do this. I am the only person using the computer with my ID and PW. If I am not the Calendar Administrator, then I need to change to whoever is to my ID so I can have control of my calendar. How do I do this?

iMac (27-inch, Late 2013), OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)

I just spent some time figuring this out. I'm sure since it has been a few years you may have found the answer, but since i do not see the answer here bellow. all i had to do was look on the left side of calendars, (i just deleted it, so i don't remember exactly how it was worded) and delete "events from mail". as soon as i did this i was able to add events and do not have an administrative warning any more! Hope this helps everyone with this issue!

May that birthday is in your calendar because you have added the birthday information to the persons information in your Contacts?

If so remove the birthday from the persons Contact entry or disable that the Birthday Calendar is displayed.

This was very helpful!  Click on the word "Calendar" at the top of the actual calendar and it will bring up a list of things.  Birthdays (and German Holidays etc) were all listed there and checked.  Just uncheck them and voila, they disappear.
